São PauloSouth America’s biggest business events market, and its slowest customs desk
Exhibition capacity and a corporate audience nothing else in the region matches — provided your freight leaves early enough to clear.
The honest version
São Paulo is the commercial capital of South America and its events market reflects that. São Paulo Expo, Expo Center Norte and Distrito Anhembi between them handle the continent’s largest trade shows, the corporate audience is deep across finance, agribusiness, industry and consumer goods, and the production supply chain is genuinely good.
Customs is the thing that breaks programmes here. Temporary import of exhibition stands, AV, samples and giveaways is slow, document-sensitive and unforgiving of errors, and freight that would clear Frankfurt in two days can sit for two weeks. Start the shipping conversation at the same time as the venue conversation, not after it.
Best suited to

- Agribusiness, finance and industrial conferences
- Distributor and channel conventions

Operating notes
What actually decides whether São Paulo works for you.
Airlift, hotel capacity, ground and season — in that order, and before anyone falls in love with a photograph.
Access and airlift
Guarulhos (GRU) is the region’s main hub with strong European, North American and intra-South American service. Congonhas (CGH) handles domestic traffic close to the business district.
Hotels and capacity
Large and varied, clustered around Faria Lima, Paulista and the Jardins. Good value against European or North American equivalents.
Ground and distance
Traffic is severe and helicopters exist here for a reason. Keep movements short, use the metro where it reaches, and build real buffer into every transfer.
Season and calendar
April to June and August to October. Summer, from December to February, is hot, wet and interrupted by the Carnival period.
